Since December 1st this year, it is forbidden to sell baby bottles, cups and all children's products containing bisphenol A in that state.
Paterson, governor of New York, said the new law could effectively protect children from "potentially harmful substances".
It is understood that many states in the United States have legislated to prohibit the application of bisphenol A in children's products.
Recently, similar laws were adopted in Connecticut, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington and Wisconsin.
Prior to this, Canada, Denmark, France, Australia and New Zealand have also legislated to prohibit or restrict the use of bisphenol A.
Bisphenol A is used as raw material for polycarbonate, which exists in various consumer products.
Not long ago, the US Environmental Working Group found that 40% of the samples contained a high concentration of bisphenol A in a sample survey of American businesses and services.
The group also discussed the sources of exposure to bisphenol A, including canned food liners, bottles, infant formula, etc.
