Stretchable Tactile Material Artificial Skin

In daily life, we are already very accustomed to the application of touch screen. But now, researchers at Stanford University are planning to expand this technology and apply it to a wider range of fields, such as technology, robots and other consumer products.

field

Far-reaching impact.

The research team designed a model.

A stretchable receptor, which can be reused without wrinkling, after each touch.

They will return to their original status immediately.

Scientists hope that this technology can be applied in medicine in the future, such as the design of adjustable bandages, and even the use of artificial skin, to help patients restore their sense of touch, or to design tactile robots.

Of course, it will be more useful in terms of traditional touch screens and computers.

The researchers first sprayed a layer of carbon nanotube material on the surface of a silicon layer and then stretched it repeatedly. Finally, the carbon nanotubes were aligned into "spring like".

This spring can stretch in any direction, which can measure the magnitude of the force exerted on the material, and repeated stretching will not cause structural damage.

According to the introduction, the material is composed of two parallel conductive plates with the principle of capacitance.

When one or two plates are pressed, the distance between the two plates will be reduced and the capacitance of the receptor is increased. This increase can be measured quantitatively. The two parallel conducting plates are made of silicon coated with carbon nanotube layers, and a layer of siliceous layer stored in the middle is added in the middle.
