The reporter learned from the Putian inspection and quarantine department that Singapore will cancel all tariffs on imports from China starting next year.

Our city's advantageous industries such as electronics, machinery, textiles and footwear should seize this opportunity and expand broader export space.

It is learnt that the free trade agreement covers trade in goods, services, personnel flow, customs procedures, and many other areas.

The new side is committed to cancel all tariffs on imports from China from January 1, 2009. China has promised to achieve zero tariffs on 97.1% of its newly imported products by January 1, 2012.

The Putian inspection and quarantine department suggests that the relevant enterprises should keep abreast of the Sino Singapore Free Trade Agreement, make full use of preferential policies, develop their own advantageous industries, take the opportunity to expand the Singapore market, and strengthen cooperation and exchanges with Singapore to further improve product quality and enhance product competitiveness.
