High Precision Customized "Space Suit", Textile Technology Helps Shenzhou 12 Astronauts Walk In Space
Our reporter Hao Jie
At 9:22 a.m. on the 17th, the Long March 2F remote 12 carrier rocket carrying the Shenzhou 12 manned spacecraft ignited and launched at Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center on time. The Shenzhou 12 manned spacecraft successfully separated from the rocket, entered the predetermined orbit, and successfully sent three astronauts Nie Haisheng, Liu Boming, and Tang Hongbo into space. The launch was a complete success.

After entering space, the spacecraft will rendezvous and dock with the core module of the space station already in space. Astronauts will enter the core module of the space station. In the future, they will work and live in orbit for three months, during which they will also work outside the module.
In the future, astronauts can complete extravehicular work such as repair, maintenance and equipment replacement of space station spacecraft while operating the manipulator, which puts forward higher requirements for the design and manufacture of extravehicular spacesuits they wear.
Various functions of the new generation of spacesuit have been upgraded
According to relevant reports, this time our astronauts were equipped with a new generation of space suits, with various functions upgraded. The extravehicular spacesuit used to perform extravehicular missions has been improved in many aspects, such as structural layout design, clothing life and ergonomics, to ensure that astronauts carry out a series of complex operations and related load tests of the space station in an absolutely safe environment.

Nie Haisheng, a super astronaut of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Astronaut Brigade, said that the biggest change of the spacesuit is that the time for extravehicular support has increased. In the past four hours or so, this time it can stay for 7-8 hours; The second is that the joints have been changed and the range of motion is better. Then some other electronic devices, including cameras, are added, which may be more helpful for completing tasks.

Liu Boming, a super astronaut of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Astronaut Brigade, said that this time the clothing has been adjusted accordingly, and there are also some substitutes for materials, which are more comfortable than the original clothes. It used to be very difficult to grasp the safety hook when crawling outside the cabin, because most of the physical energy is consumed on it. This time, it will save time and effort. Therefore, compared with the improvement of Shenzhou 7, its clothing is more comfortable.

Extravehicular spacesuit is the equipment worn by astronauts when they perform space missions. Although it is a suit, it has various life support and support functions similar to those of space stations. Extravehicular spacesuit condenses the life support and support functions of manned spacecraft into this suit, for example, it has the functions of radiation protection, high and low temperature protection, oxygen supply and warmth preservation, pressure adjustment, etc, In short, it is a life support system that people can live in outer space for a period of time, or it is a small manned spacecraft.
The extravehicular spacesuit has 6 layers inside and outside, which can withstand the test of temperature difference of more than 200 degrees Celsius in outer space. Its production cost is up to tens of millions of yuan, but it can be waterproof, fireproof, gas proof and radiation proof. It can be described as "seamless". When people wear it, it can be said that there are two worlds inside and outside the clothes.
It is understood that the biggest highlight of this mission is undoubtedly the astronauts' extravehicular activities, which will be another space walk by the Chinese 13 years after the Shenzhou VII in 2008, and the scale and complexity of this extravehicular activity will also be beyond the reach of Shenzhou VII.
At that time, with the support of the core module manipulator, Chinese astronauts will wear a new generation of spacesuits for two extravehicular activities, and complete a large number of extravehicular operations, including the installation of extravehicular toolkits, the lifting of panoramic cameras, the installation of expansion pump sets, and personnel transfer. The extravehicular time will be up to 6 or 7 hours.
The astronauts' work and life clothes are all from Donghua University
In addition to spacesuits, the series of special clothes for astronauts in the whole process of working and living in space and on the ground is also an important aspect to ensure that astronauts can fly smoothly. These clothes, as well as the shoes for astronauts in the space station mission, are all from the innovation and hard work of the research and design team of Donghua University for many years.

These clothes not only include the work clothes, exercise clothes, leisure clothes, weightlessness protective clothes, sleeping gear, etc. of astronauts working and living in the space station, but also many kinds of ground mission clothes, such as regular clothes, mission training clothes, special clothes, etc. These special clothes not only ensure the realization of a number of special functions, but also integrate the design elements with Chinese characteristics, so as to become the "Chinese space clothes" of astronauts appearing in the world 。
"The special clothing for Chinese astronauts is a multi-functional clothing that gives priority to functionality and ergonomics, and also has aesthetic features. The design team of Donghua University's astronaut clothing research and development team has integrated the elements of the times with Chinese characteristics in the surface accessories, color patterns, and even the sewing lines of clothing details, showing the good image of Chinese astronauts as the space dreamers and guardians of the Chinese dream." Li Jun, head of the astronaut clothing R&D and design team of Donghua University and dean of the College of Clothing and Art Design, said.
The style, color, pattern, texture, etc. of the whole series of space suits and accessories should not only match each other, but also be compatible with the cabin environment. While reflecting the cultural elements with Chinese characteristics and the characteristics of the times, they should also reflect the professional and spiritual characteristics of the astronaut community. Different types of clothing with different functions can help astronauts fight against the adverse effects of weightlessness on human muscles during a long space flight, and some can also care for astronauts to adjust their mood and mood. At the same time, the display effect after photography, video recording and image transmission in the cabin light environment should be considered. It can be said that "one dish must satisfy one hundred stomachs".

For example, in the design of astronaut's regular clothes, the sky color and the lake blue are added to symbolize the earth's skyline and the outer space color elements. The change of light and dark makes the clothes look more three-dimensional, full and layered. Technically, most of them are three-dimensional straight lines. The "S" shaped arc on the front shoulder, which is a metaphor for the space flight trajectory, echoes the "V" shaped straight line on the front chest, which symbolizes victory, presenting the beauty of thick, thin, straight and harmonious.

In addition to the clothing itself, the design of some clothing items worn by astronauts should also be systematically planned according to the color and shape of clothing. Among them, the main line of the astronaut honor logo is like the flight track of a spacecraft in the blue universe, giving people a sense of upward flight. The number of pentagons indicates the number of times the wearer performs manned missions. The team shows the connotation and style of "Feitian" with artistic design through a comprehensive carrier such as the special clothing for astronauts.

The core module of Tianhe is the "space home" of astronauts. It provides three times the space for astronauts' activities as the Tiangong-2 space laboratory. It is equipped with three independent bedrooms and one bathroom, ensuring the daily life of astronauts for three months. Living in the "big house" for a "long time", of course, can not be separated from a pair of comfortable and beautiful "home shoes" for astronauts (shoes used in the mission module of the astronaut space station).
"Astronaut's cabin shoes should be 'flexible' to protect the safety and comfort of the feet, while taking into account the fashionable design and thick culture." According to Zheng Rong, the head of the research and development team of the astronauts' cabin shoes of Donghua University and professor of the International Fashion Science and Innovation Center of Donghua University, the design and development of the cabin shoes integrates the school's anthropometry, ergonomics, materials, 3D modeling It has disciplinary advantages in rapid prototyping, product design and other fields, and has obtained support from industry resources and relevant cooperative enterprises and units. The relevant advanced technologies and achievements based on ergonomics have been applied to the greatest extent, combined with 3D foot scanning technology, plantar pressure analysis, integrated weaving and other technologies, and carefully and comprehensively considered the special environment of the space station, the characteristics of the human body, the demand for movement and other design factors.
The shoes used in the cabin are mainly made of thermoplastic materials and blended knitting materials, which are soft, light, environmentally friendly, antistatic, breathable and elastic, ensuring the comfort and safety of the astronauts' feet when they are moving in the weightless environment of the spacecraft cabin and the space station. At the same time, the shoes used in the cabin adopt a cross size design. In terms of size, a size system that can cover multiple male and female astronauts has been designed, and the foot shape changes under various operating environments have been taken into account to match the foot movement characteristics of astronauts. Considering the microgravity in the cabin and the weight requirements of the spaceship, the shoes used in the cabin are much lighter than the ordinary shoes worn by ordinary people.
The "fish ribs" wavy structure is tried for the foot shape, which ensures the unity of flexibility and protection, so as to cushion the collision caused by astronauts' movement. The front and rear of the foot are fully designed, which not only makes wearing more comfortable, but also makes the shape more three-dimensional. The final color is the combination of "deep space blue" and black color. Black reflects the factors of fashion and technology. At the same time, it matches the blue of the work clothes in the cabin to achieve a sense of harmony in visual collocation.

The highlight of the shoes in the cabin lies in the soles. On the basis of ensuring functionality, the hollowed out design of the entire soles originates from the changes in the art design of seal script Chinese characters of "nine days and the moon". The "stars and constellations" around the outer circle go round and round, which not only demonstrates Lingyun's ambition to be a great country, but also Chinese style romance and feelings on the paper.
